#170735 - UK-Specific: Digikey update
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Andy Neil said:
Although both Mouser and Digikey do now advertise direct to the UK, you need to be very careful that you don't get stung with excessive shipping charges, Customs duties, and fees.

I was obviously not careful enough, and ended up paying vastly over the odds through Digikey due to shipping charges, Customs duties, and fees - which also delayed the delivery.

:-(

To be fair, I should say that I have just tried another Digikey order, and had a much better experience this time!

:-)

I think the key must be to make absolutely sure that you go via the correct, country-specific URL; not the generic "digikey.com" - which will treat you as a US customer.

You also need to be sure that there will be someone present at the delivery address to pay the VAT - because the carrier will need this paid before they will hand over the package!
