Richard:

FROM MY CURRENT EXPERIENCE, I know of at least two board assembly houses in San Diego, as well as one in Phoenix, that can and do regularly stuff boards with all manner of parts including 1mm-pitch BGAs, with 100% yields.

FROM MY CURRENT EXPERIENCE, I know of a very good PCB fab in Phoenix that can and does build multilayer boards to tight tolerances that support 1mm-pitch BGA packages. They are very good at calling us and telling us when there's an issue with a board that may impact yield.

Just because YOU have no relevant recent experience doesn't mean that others have the same experiences.

As for impugning my cocksmanship because I like my MacBook Pro -- don't be a dick.

There -- I said what EVERYONE ELSE HERE is thinking.
