So for short term, we make a new systemboard with AT89S8253 and IIC master chip, but still controling the 16 pcs of 8243 subrack environment by the P1.0 to P1.7 bus. For long term we like to design a new i/o board with IIC (9505/06) for 16 i/o pins per controler. Thanks, Joop I'm pretty sure that something SPI-like will be cheaper and easier to implement than I2C. You will only need an MCU and some simple software. You can even mix old and new i/o boards and autodetect which is which. No need to administrate addresses on the bus either with your current backplane containing all the CS lines. Whether the AT89S8253 is a good choice I do not know, I've never used one, but it is often complained about here. Maarten |
