They obviously can't just give away the complete product for free to all & sundry.
I very much suspect that the majority (possibly the vast majority) of downloads of the "evaluation" version are not true evaluations at all - just people looking for a freebie. As already noted, it is a universal problem for all software makers - how to make available an "evaluation" version that is sufficiently complete without being so complete that there is no reason to buy the full version. I don't know what it's like over there, but here, if you're buying a new car, you're only likely to get 30 minutes or so test drive - and that accompanied by the salesman! |
