At one point in development the system automatically marked your own new post as "read." There were some problems with it so I decided to leave it until later.

But please: Do not change this behaviour if it will clear the read state of all posts in the thread. I would not want a reply to a post somewhere in the middle of the thread to mark the full thread processed.


I'll analyze this tonight. I'm still baffled as to why/how the old system actually remembered "new" messages correctly while reading a thread. I'm assuming that by reviewing the old code I'll be able to refresh my memory and replicate whatever it is that made that work.
