#159694 - Read state Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Exactly what information follows the session and what information follows my account? Must I log out in one browser to be allowed to log in using a different browser or computer, for example when moving between home and word? Whenever you read a thread, the "read" state for that thread is immediately saved to your account. However, that information is only loaded into the session of another browser when you login. So if you are working in Browser A and then switch to browser B, you'll want to logout and login with browser B to get the "read" status loaded into the session. I probably should modify this so it reloads that information every, say, 5 minutes. That won't help if you're quickly switching between browsers on a single machine or between two machines, but will solve the problem if you're reading at home and then go to work and use the system there. The other thing I probably should do is switch to using the "threaded" mode for a few days. I use the flat/phpBB layout and everything just works there because it's all sequential. I believe my beta testers mentioned some of these same problems with the new messages in threaded mode, but I never understood why because the old system didn't ever make any effort to do anything but make note of the last message read in each thread--which is the same thing the new system does. So I'm not sure how the old system could have worked "properly" in thread mode to start with. I'll have to investigate that further. I'll change the color of the first three buttons tomorrow evening. What color would be good to achieve good contrast? I want the first three buttons to have a different font color than the remaining buttons. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
