It's not an EPROM! Those are UV-Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memories.
Look up the datasheet for the AT28C64. You'll learn a few things. RE Not according to the datasheet Atmel Datasheet said: The AT28C64B is a high-performance electrically-erasable and programmable read only
memory (EEPROM). That may be true ... however EPROM, which is what the O/P stated, quite incorrectly, he's using, means something quite different from EEPROM. The device he's using is not an EPROM. The O/P has misled himself, first by confusing EPROM and EEPROM, and, secondly, by believing there's no difference between EEPROM an RAM. Had he consulted the datasheet, he'd first have learned that he is not using an EPROM, and, second, that he can't simply write to an EEPROM as he would a RAM. No mention of UV. There's no mention of EPROM, either. EPROM's, which are what the O/P refers to, aside from the plastic-packaged OTP's, are UV-erasable. EEPROM's, on the other hand, are electrically erasable, a distinction which seemingly has been lost on the O/P. That's why I used the word those rather than these in referring to the device in question. These would refer to what he has in the circuit, while those refers to what he, incorrectly, states he has in the circuit. It's a fine point, I admit, but that's the distinction. RE |
