What I mean, of course, is what's visible to JTAG that's not visible to a monitor? It's possible that you can see things not visible to the MCU core, I suppose, but I doubt it will help much if that's the case.

This question applies particularly to the many devices that don't support JTAG. What use is JTAG if the MCU doesn't support it?
