The AT89LP Developer Studio requires also some dedicated hardware - look at Atmel's site, I am lazy to post all the links here. It's a bit more involved than simple; I will get back to this later and in a different thread.

There are also dedicated programming-only solutions: the "original" AT89ISP utility should now support the 'LPs (at least some of them); and there is also a new "AT89LP ISP Studio" software. The former should work with the original LPT-based "cable", the new requires a "dongle" (serial or USB), which AFAIK is not sold yet, but you can build your own.
