Maybe you are not aware of this AppNote. There are some details to be concerned about.

Note that I happen to have one of the USB attached programmers called the Presto. This device has support for the AT89LP52 listed in its device selection list. I've used the Presto to program AT89LP4052's and found it to work very well.
