#185862 - STK500, AVRStudio et al.

The clue is in the name: AVRStudio; The 89S51,2 & 89LP52 are not AVRs - are they?!
You might not be aware of the fact that the STK500 has an AT89S51/S52 support built into its firmware, and the PC-side suite (STK500 plugin (GUI) in AVRStudio4, the stk500.exe command-line tool) support them, too. That's where the official '51 support ends.

A quick glance at the 'LP51/52 datasheet indicates that it's not hopeless to support them in STK500/AVRStudio. As a first experiment, I'd simply set the POL on 'LP5x for negative reset (so it's just like the AVRs) and try to read out the signature with whatever AVR set in AVRStudio (not the 'S5x!). The devil might be hidden in the details, though, and it's hard to say without actually trying what may go wrong. I have no 'LP51/52 to try now...
