that is ridiculous, repeated starts is not a bell or a whistle, it is part of the IIC spec.

Do they actually call this thing "I2C"?
I thought the reason why Philips/NXP keep hold of the rights to the name was to stop people calling their stuff "I2C" if it wasn't really a fully-compatible implementation...?
