While looking for something else, I stumbled upon this: http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/embedded_sd/

This sounds like an SD-Card, but in a "chip" form - so it can be permanently mounted on a PCB, wthout all that tedious messing about with card holders.

Sounds great, but has anyone seen any actual devices?

I admitedly only did a very quick search, but all that came up seemed to be news releases about the spec.
So perhaps this is just "vapourware" ?
