What the price/performance comparison?

If I need the 100 MIPS I/O performance of the SiLabs parts, can I get there with a comparably priced ARM?

If I need the I/O performance of a Maxim/Dallas DS89C4x0, with its dual data pointers, ability to switch between them automatically, auto-incrementing or decrementing them, or not, automatically and selectively, with the internal ability to match bus speed to external peripherals, is there a comparably priced ARM (yet) that can match the I/O performance?

There's little doubt that the time will come, but I doubt it's here yet.
