I was referring to the use of ARM, as opposed to 805x MCU's, specifically by using ARM in combination with a HLL as a development tool, as it automatically assumes the availability of much larger resources, imposing the requirement for most-often-absent discipline on the programmer. When you use a larger architecture, it becomes necessary to provide what the architecture demands. It is possible to "get by" with resources nearly as small as what a typical 8-bitter would require, and can, then, perform tasks under HLL's that would be trickier with an 8-bitter, but ... where are the $40 evb's for a fully-implemented ARM? That's where the -bitter vs. ARM contrast lives. RE |
