You also still seem to be assuming that any "ARM target" must necessarily be sufficiently resource-rich ("yes, disk drives and all") to be able to support Linux. I don't think that's true at all - I think there are plenty of "small" systems using ARM7-based micros essentially as single-chip microcontrollers where adding Linux capability would absolutely swamp the true target. And it would be completely out of the question for many (most?) Cortex-M3-based targets... |
