No "strange event" does ever reach the micro! Use filtering, grounding and shielding to guarantee this.
Your product has to fullfill CE standards to demonstrate that it is immune against "strange events".

The watchdog is not to cure a misdesign (lack of filtering, etc.), but to handle unforseeable situations which overcome all these barriers.
