... on the other hand, using a bigger socket (DIL32) provides 1. a bigger chance to get either the smaller or the bigger memory; 2. an opportunity to point out methods of adressing >64k memory (paging) and related issues.
Of course it requires a bit of thinking on all the connections, and an array of jumpers. Nevertheless, I'd welcome at least one DIL32 socket with configurable "upper" pins for FLASH (29C040) - that might be an another issue worth adding (while dropping perhaps the EPROM). JW (PS. I couldn't get the AT25xx SPI memory, I intend to adopt an AT45xx dataflash for the DIL8 socket - yeah, no time...) |
