#169749 - micro related search engines Responding to: ???'s previous message |
very helpful! the keil one has already been reccomended to me, and although all the features I understand to be very helpful, I am having one difficulty. Having never had to select a micro before, how does one go about doing so when he has no specific quantities of features to work to.
by that I mean for example, I do not understand how much RAM i require, as I have no experience in coding a micro. If I had used micros before, I am sure I would generally understand how much RAM certain applications use. I've read about the general functions the RAM is used for, but do not know how much of this specifically my application may use. I imagine for the basic features I have mentioned it is quite small. For example, when sending data out to an LCD, how much RAM is generally required for each instruction to be sent out. I am still trying to find this information, so please don't feel like you have to answer all this, I am just voicing some of the things I am trying to understand by reading some tutorials etc. Another problem I am having is that coding in C, and not at the assembly language, (although I do understand some basics) how the efficiencies in RAM usage will differ, this is something that I know is more of a practical users knowledge and is more easily understood as an explanation from someone here, so this is the question that for now I would like to ask here.
