#169693 - University Project |
Hello I'm Joel studying electronic engineering at warwick university in england.
As a third year project I am designing electronic control systems for a gear change mechanism on a 'formula student' car. I have spent a couple of hours this week familiarizing myself with certain micro controllers that are available to me, but I have some questions to you guys after going through some threads on here, and realizing they were rather old! I have decided to use a derivative of the 8052 as it is so widely used. So firstly, they mostly operate on 5V right? can you recommend a suitable and reliable supervisor chip for this family? I am using 4 inputs for sensors and 4 outputs for controlling a pneumatically operated actuator's valves (this is for the initial stages of the project) but need enough extra Output ports to include some sort of LCD display in the future. and another 2 input ports for receiving information from the Cars ECU sent serially. I have not looked into LCD displays yet. Those are the only questions I have at the moment. I'm obviously new here so I am sorry if this is posted in the incorrect place ( I couldn't find any subforums?) Thankyou, Joel |
