Sorry, but the debate about forum searches is just the result of a thread hijack and in regards to a different user/thread that got locked as "home work". You just got involved as collateral damage in a bigger debate :)

The big issue - that not all people is catching - is that there is no real problem discussing - or helping out - with school assignments. But that help should be of similar form as if a student asks their teacher or a lab assistant, and that people who starts a thread requesting turn-key solutions should be duly informed that such help would represent direct cheating.
