A number of cheap ARM chips has 4 UART. And USB. And Ethernet.
Start all projects by listing your requirements. Then look at what processor families that may be used, and locate more detailed information for possible candidates. Select a 805x chip if it is a good fit for your problem. If not, then select something else. Just remember that your requirements list may need to include an upgrade path, in case the product may lead to follow up products with extended functionality in which case it would be very sad if you designed with a top-of-the-line processor without extra capabilities. When designing, it can sometimes be worth the cost to get a new set of tools or take the learning curve etc. An up-front investment can lead to a significantly lower life-cycle cost and possibly a number of extra years of product life. |
