A number of USB 3G modules may require that you run a special program (possibly without released source) to configure the module. After the configuration, you may get them to look at a virtual serial port. Before the configuration, they may instead look like a USB memory stick, containing the Windows drivers... If you are lucky, the Linux source code (or a precompiled module) may exist to get it to serial port mode, so a Linux machine can use it.
You really have to be proactive. Ask a lot of questions to the supplier before buying. And start to supply a lot of information to this forum if you want people to be able to help. |
