#164418 - Bigger processor core needed for USB host Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Yes, A bigger processor core will be needed to support USB Host.
So the USB Wireless modem is cheaper but a microcontroller with USB host is more costly ,both for the micro and "implementation of the USB host stack", no to mention the development time to learn a new more complex 32bit processor core. USB Host on a NXP ARM7 Processor example http://www.standardics.nxp.com/support/software/usb.host.msc/ And often you have to purchase the USB Host stack - which is many thousands of dollars **************************************************** So cheaper USB wireless modem is not always cheaper! **************************************************** Joe |
