Have you actually defined what the problem is yet?
You certainly haven't stated it on this forum, so nobody can tell whether it's even a "good" solution - let alone the "right" one!

Before you ask that, you have to ask if it will work with the Vinculum.

Have you looked at the Vinculum documentation to confirm it?
Have you contacted Vinculum support and asked them?

Why do you think this is a better solution than using a GSM module with a UART interface?

A GSM module with a UART interface will certainly work with an 8051...

Who knows!

You haven't said what HSDPA modem it is - so how can anyone tell if it supports AT commands or not?!
Being a USB device, it might rely upon the driver in the PC...
