In the old system (now defunct), a person's Karma was derived from the sum of the Karma for the messages posted by that person.
That doesn't seem unreasonable to me: it seems quite sensible that a person's reputation (or "karma") should derive from the quality of their posts - If a person's posts consistently gain positive votes, it seems quite reasonable that they'd gain a positive reputation (or "karma"), and vice-versa Exactly correct. That's the way that made sense to me. Anyhow, it's all history now... We'll see how it goes. I can reactivate the old karma system by changing a "0" to a "1" in a configuration file so it's only history as long as we want it to be history. Things seem to have been calmer lately but I don't know if that's because the karma system changed, because we have the new off-topic forum, or because there was some pent-up frustration that has now been released and it'll take awhile before it builds up and explodes again. :) Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
