I think the fact that we have yet another thread debating the points system says it all. Get rid of it!

All it seems to achieve is to upset a fair few people. It doesn't give any indication whether posts are actually correct from a technical perspective, which I think was at least part of the original intention.

I suggest replacing the points system with more aggressive moderation - all off-topic posts should be deleted. Any complaints you receive about deleted posts should receive a standard reply stating that the moderator's decision is final, no justification need be given.

There have to be rules and people have to respect them. If they can't or don't want to - let them leave.
