How can you be "insulted" by closing a thread. Annoyed, maybe, inconvenienced but "insulted" ?

How about "foolish" when the OP points out that your carefully worked, elegantly worded and beautifully illuminated solution is useless ?? Which is exactly the waste of effort and time I am trying to avoid.
