#97917 - That's the reason for karma Responding to: ???'s previous message |

2) I think is better than the old system. Somebody can remember the "wars" when someone post and other reply "off topic" etc? I think the karma is a usefull system to express our opinion about the posts. That was, honestly, precisely the original reason for karma. We were getting so many messages complaining about "This is off-topic" or "that's not useful" etc. And those messages themselves aren't useful either. So the idea of karma was that you could click a button and simply say "That's not useful" without starting a sub-thread of 10 messages that are all about people talking about why it is or isn't useful. In a case like this, the idea was that there'd be a single "not useful" message and people could rate it as such without having to write an additional 10 messages that were also not useful. Unfortunately, what seems to have happened is that people score the messages, sometimes still write messages saying the message is not useful (and provoke the same string of messages discussing its usefulness), and now we also have people complaining about the karma system. So perhaps the situation has not been improved, despite my best intentions to improve it. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
