I'd certainly like to see a USB-interfaced parallel port that implements all the "standards", e.g. "classic" parallel port, "ibm (bidirectional) parallel port, EPP ("enhanced") parallel port, and ECP (extended capacity parallel port) in the same way and with the same performance as the old motherboard-based parallel port that was in the typical PC before Windows XP.
It may not be USB's fault, nor is it likely it's entirely Microsoft's fault, but then, whose fault is it that PC's have less and less useful stuff on them? The only solution to this mysterious problem that I've encountered is to nurse the old systems that actually work along as much as I can. RE |
