#188758 - Why not just let 'em believe what makes 'em comfortable? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
There's even archaeological evidence that some of the stories in the Bible are, in fact, off the mark. Nevertheless, evidence or no, What's wrong with letting people believe what they want to believe, rather than bombarding them with insulting remarks about their "invisible sky fairy" or whatever? The purpose of religion, from where I sit, is to make persons more comfortable with the parts of their own situation that they can't readily fix. Yes, you can argue that it makes 'em less likely to be more productive, but I've seen no evidence that belief in no supreme being makes 'em more productive, or even more willing to take responsibility for their own dilemma.
It's like arguing that this MCU is better than that one. Why not let 'em do what they want? RE |
