But I don't think you can call atheism a religion, its s strongly held belief and it guide my ideas about what is right and wrong and the idea that at the end of the day there is nobody and nothing which is going to absolve you of your sins, its just my personal belief that you have to be grown up about things and realise that asking god for stuff isn't going to get you very far.
I suppose the one thing which drives any non theist absolutely crackers is this idea that you can only have any strong morals if they have been handed to you in some religious book.The the absolute refusal to recognize the fact that of you lived in some other part of the world then you would have some other religious book which contains some other moral beliefs. You can take Godel's theorem to mean all kinds of things from the failure of all formal self consistent systems of maths all the way to meaning that you can never really find the true answer to anything. |
