While MRI, I've read, typically costs ~$150 in some countries, here in the U.S. it's more like $5k. Getting it interpreted in a way that's meaningful to the goals involved in prosthesis construction would probably cost twice that, if it were at all straightforward with existing software tools, which, BTW, I doubt it is.
This problem has been addressed with computer vision and with other readily accessible technologies, to no avail, as major qualitative and quantitative information gaps remain with those technologies that are readily accessible. If you know of a "cheap" way to do this, one that would provide information about the relative density of tissue, even if it's largely qualitative, I'd like to know about it. RE |
