#188307 - Tomographic imaging?
Responding to: ???'s previous message

I'm just curious as to whether it might be possible to "automate out" some of the guesswork.

Would it be possible to stick the patient in an MRI tomograph and get a digital 3D-representation of the tissue distribution?

The closest thing to tissue displacement measurements I've been involved in was a non-invasive blood pressure measurement device. However, using a pneumatic cuff to measure tissue displacement would probably not deliver the spatial resolution you require.

Be aware that tissue measurements are tricky, though. Apply pressure to the tissue, and you'll actually displace some of the interstitial fluid out of the tissue area, resulting in a displacement that changes slowly over time.
