i think that the strain gauges on the cranks could be made to work, but its a lot of faffing about when basically if i can hold the wheel of an ex-professional when he is on a mission, without it killing me then I am happy with that.
They say that doing that kind of effort over an event like the classic tours takes months off your life, it wouldn't surprise me to find that its true.
