Christoph, if ESD can make your µc run ill and its internal watchdog then it can upset an external watchdog as well!

So it seems to me, that you have an ESD problem and not a µC problem.

Make your board immune to ESD and you will be fine. A design that relies on a watchdog to work properly is a bad desgin anyway!
