#180127 - cheaper evaluation boards
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Lots of hobbyists use the ARM processor.

Yes, of course they do!

Most buy cheaper evaluation boards for their projects. The cheapest alternatives are small boards looking very much like a USB thumb drive

As already noted, there are many low- and very-low cost ARM boards available; eg http://www.8052.com/forum/read/179785

with the availability of gcc, you have access to a great compiler for free. And huge amounts of both documentation about processor and tools, and also published projects people have implemented.

Indeed.

The one thing that really makes ARMs stand out above the 8051 is that they all have on-chip debug - which really is a boon for the hobbyist/experimenter!
