that you must supply 20mA AND whatever your 'receiving' device uses itself.

I would, to be sure, go by the 34mA current limit plus the 5mA for the 'receiver'.

NOTE: your device need to 'function' i.e. not burn and give max reading on a short and minimum reading on an open, after all this is industrial.
