Given below is what the specifications of the transmitter read and I AM powering the loop with the supply ( duly stepped up ) from the USB port. This is a LabJack-U3 module with about 16 analog inputs and few digital I/O. It interfaces with the PC thorugh USB and thereby brings out the 5V for forming any required signal conditioning circuits.



In fact after reading the specs I am now even more confused as under the 4-20mA type it says "nil" Supply -Current consumption ! I know I am missing something and would like to knoww that...
