A bad relay contact can change its on resistance within seconds!
A load regulation error can look different when changing the load! So, an auto-calibration routine would have to know what load is connected afterwards. And last but not least, you need a reference for each range that is way more precise than +-0.1%. And what if after your auto-calibration the ambient temperature changes? 50ppm temperature drift gives 0.1% every 20K. When having ten such components in the signal path, then temperature drift can be up to +-1%. How do you want to adjust this by an auto-calibration routine?? You cannot build something precise by using lousy components and a sophisticated auto-calibration routine. Please! OK I will test your idea, but give me a few days time (a week to 10 days at most). In this period I'll appreciate if you and others have ideas about auto calibration procedure. |
