Ok, but that's still just a matter of where the potential virus manifests itself. A virus in userspace can do just as much damage to the outside world as a virus in OS-space.

As long as users can install and execute programs that can access the Internet, the world will be subject to the effects of spambots, botnets, etc. The OS doesn't matter.
