#139855 - a few buttons, dials, and knobs, but not enough
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I've yet to see even one PC-based 'scope that can trigger accurately. (Frankly, I've never seen an HP, or any post-1985 'scope that can do it either.) I've yet to see even one PC 'scope with delayed sweep. Yes, they can magnify a segment of a sweep, but I don't know what they have to do in order to display the signal as it occurs since the number of samples is limited. If the signal looks good at 200 ns/div, how does it look at 2 ns/div? Not so good, I'd bet. What about switching between AC and DC coupled triggering? What about LF or HF filtering the trigger? What about a bandwidth limiting filter? Those are all things that can be applied with software, but which will also diminish the fidelity of the visual representation of the signal.

The low-cost (<$25KUS) 'scopes of today are "limited". The ones that use PC's as integral components are VERY limited. The ones that use USB to feed the software running on the PC are suitable for recording sub-audio signals, and maybe some analog into the 100's of kHz, but for audio and below, I prefer the sound board.
