It's not unusual to claim "1GHz bandwidth", even if the input attenuation is such that almost nothing except noise gets through at that frequency, and of course it is for "repeated signals", as Richard stated above - and it's only some 100Msamples/s (or even not that - some cheap USB "oscilloscopes" simply have no sample memory, just bulk dump what they acquire through a high speed USB channel - and if it chokes...)
