#139802 - I prefer the "feel" of manually controlled gear Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I've loved the "feel" of the old TEK 455/465/475-series of portable solid-state oscilloscopes since I got my first one, back in the '70's. They repsond to knob twists and push-on/push-off switches and attenuators with well-defined detents in a way that allows you to work without even looking away from your circuit-under-test. Only when you need to check the display do you have to look at it.
These computer-controlled displays, like my logic analyzer on which you use a knob to do what should be done with a keyboard, hence, taking 20x as long means I have to take a month to set up a sample, 10 seconds to take the sample and then analyze for a month. With a keyboard, it might only be a day or so of setup. I should probably get a different one, but, I'm a creature of habit, and I know about entropy. It means that things always go from bad to worse. RE |
