I totally agree that chip users should design to the data sheet. Most system failures that I have investigated can be traced back to a violated specification. And there are a lot of examples of this over on the message boards.

However, I stand by my measurements on the 8255, and the extrapolations to suggested specifications. I seriously doubt that there exist current revision parts of the Intersil 82C55A for which my statements are "blatantly false".
