I have been characterizing the Intersil IS82C55AZ No, you haven't. You have been testing one particualr IS82C55AZ chip - or maybe some sample of IS82C55AZ chips. That most certainly does not guarantee that you can base a design on your figures and know that any IS82C55AZ chip supplied at any time will perform to those "results" - and continue to perform throughout the product's life. have found it to be both faster and stronger than reported in the data sheet. You are basically "overclocking" it. This is nothing new. Lots of people "overclock" the processors in their PCs and achieve performance beyond the data sheet specs. Many people get away with it; but others don't. That's the thing with going beyond the datasheet - all guarantees are off! |
