Well, here is the latest. The UM232 looks easy enough to work with (Thanks Russell and Maarten). I have a couple of these on order. Next thing to find is a suitable AND gate. Through hole works best for me (I mentioned I have crap for tools somewhere, though I am getting a decent soldering station). Or a large surface mount type? Does anyone know of the top of there head a 3.3VTTL through hole, preferably single or dual gate that would work here? Not asking anyone to dig through the internet for me, just if they know of one, I'll be searching myself anyway
