#127071 - serial line monitor?
Greetings,

I'm looking for an off the shelf serial line monitor. I tried searching the internet but all I come up with is level converters. Most of my projects deal with translating a low level serial protocal to higher level industrial communications protocals like foundation fieldbus or profibus. We have tools for monitoring the higher level stuff, but I'm looking for something that will let me see the lower level serial stuff on a PC. The circuit would be something like this (I realize it's not complete)

Anyone ever find anything like this (or maybe have one)? I'd probably spend $30-$50 USD. In my old job, I could probably whip one up in a couple of hour as we had a well equiped lab, but alas:(, the new place has a P.O.C (thats piece of crap) soldering iron and some basic tools

Thank,
Andy

PS, thanks Jon for the help with the HTML stuff
