So, I was laid off by the previous jokers for whom I worked. The company was bought and while we got the usual assurances about "we bought the company for its people," natch they decided that they didn't need a satellite office in Tucson, so they gave us the option of moving to one of the other locations (mainly San Diego, where we were based, but also one of the New Corporate Overlord's other locations, including Santa Clara, Leesburg, VA, Ottowa, and a couple of others) or getting the heave-ho.

Naturally, I asked, "So, if I move to San Diego, will you triple my salary so I can afford a house that's equivalent to what I have now?"

Needless to say, I'm still in Tucson.
