Today's newbies have an attention span measurable in milliseconds, and probably a small number of them. What I've been preaching for many years is that the schools have forgotten how to teach kids the most important things.
(1) They've got to show up, and (2) they've got to do their work. It starts at level K, where they have to be taught to enter the classroom, sit down in their assigned seat, shut up, and pay attention. It progresses with "listening to and following directions." (remember that?) It requires learning to work and play well with others. ... see what I mean ? RE |
